GLASGOW: JAMAICA ST- St ENOCH TRAIL
Leave Glasgow Central Station by the right hand side exit and after going down the stairs cross over the road and turn down to the right. O'Neils is in the middle of this block. Cross over and walk down to the corner to find The Grant Arms. Cross over to continue down Jamaica St. The Crystal Palace is at the next corner and the opposite corner has MacSorley’s. Cross over and turn into Howard St to see The Imperial on the right. Return to Jamaica St and turn left and just at the corner is The Mint & Lime. Now walk across the bridge and go down to the second crossroads and find The Laurieston.
Walk back up to the bridge and turn right, walking along the riverside to the pedestrian bridge and cross back across the river. When across turn to the right and reach the road, crossing over to go up Maxwell St. Turn left at the top and on the corner is Gallagher’s (was Kelly’s and was Coyote). Continue left and walk along Howard St to reach another corner pub, Hootenanny. Diagonally opposite this corner on the left of the square is Times Square which has swallowed Crafty Joe’s forming a larger pub
A place this size is bound to have its own guides to illustrate the vast quantity, quality and styles of pubs.
Glasgow guide illustrating top ten pubs in different styles of drinking (and dining) eg Style pubs or Live Music pubs.
Timeout listing of best 20 pubs - controversial
A good proportion of the pubs have real ale but many do not. The west coast still has a bit of a lager flavour - occasionally only lager. Real ale is not limited to trendy style pubs, and not even in many of these.
Glasgow does not have the tourist grouping of pubs as found in Edinburgh - they are mainly aimed at Glasgow folk.
Practically every pub offers food at lunch or all day

O'Neil's is an Irish bar with not a lot of Irishness. A few flags draped from roof and a light saying "craic it up". Aged wooden and tiled floor with tall tables in the middle of the room. The left wall is stripped back to the brick. Upstairs via staircase opposite servery. Lots of TVs around the room. Food served. There is a long and narrow horseshoe shaped servery coming out of the back wall with a pillar to the ceiling at the front of the counter. There is seating above this servery, which is reached by stairs at the end of the right-hand leg of the counter, and this overlooks the performance area and down the right hand side. There are armchair stools at the bar. Mainly standing room between bar and stage but for two small tables. Shades of blue on ceiling and walls with dark wood supporting shiny brown wooden counter.
