Glasgow pubs along Paisley Rd West
GLASGOW: Paisley Rd West
From the Central Station go out the right side door and turn right to walk down Jamaica Street and across the bridge to Bridge St. The Lauriston Bar (also on subway trail and Jamaica St trail) is at the end of the second block.
Going out the Lauriston you need to turn right down the side of the bar and under the railway. this is Nelson St, becoming Morrison St and then walking underneath the motorway it becomes Paisley Rd. Once the dual carriageway becomes a single wide road you can see tenements and an imposing building where the road splits. Cross over the road at the tenements and find The Quayside Bar and further along 3 Cheers . Cross back and on the corner is The Union Bar. On the opposite corner, now on Paisley Rd West, is The Old Toll Bar. (also on subway trail) . Cross back over and on the next corner is The Viceroy Bar & Snug.
Come out and continue down Paisley Rd West and after a few minutes at the next traffic lights is across the road The Bellrock (also on subway trail) and then recrossing to The Grapes on the next corner. At the end of the next block is The District Bar. Continue to walk down and as the pavement opens up at a crescent and passed Cessnock underground there is The Kensington and then The Park Bar.
Now return to Cessnock underground to get back to the city centre.
A place this size is bound to have its own guides to illustrate the vast quantity, quality and styles of pubs.

Timeout listing of best pubs - controversial
A good proportion of the pubs have real ale but many do not. The west coast still has a bit of a lager flavour - occasionally only lager. Real ale is not limited to trendy style pubs, and not even in many of these.
Glasgow does not have the tourist grouping of pubs as found in Edinburgh - they are mainly aimed at Glasgow folk.
The Lauriston Bar ♥ ★
The Laurieston has a central oval island bar of which a small portion serves the lounge while the rest serves the bar 1960s bar. The pub is situated on a corner. The entrance of the short side is directly to the bar, while the entrance on the long side has the lounge to the right and bar to the left. The main area of the bar has banquette seating and small red shelf width tables. Decoration is a pictorial history of bars the family have owned and their customers. The far end of bar is narrower and this leg of the oval is for stools or standing.
Family sold pub in 2024 - only noticeable change is Tennent’s in.

There is a large variety of pubs throughout the different towns shown below. Some you may wish never to visit again but even discovering these can be interesting. There are pubs that you would not take your wife into. While some you could not take your girlfriend into. A few you would not take either into. However, most of the pubs are very pleasant.
