GLASGOW: Duke Street
Take the train to Duke Street station (Airdrie or Springburn) from Glasgow Queen St. Leaving the train exit the station by the stairs to the bridge. Turn down left and you will see The Louden (come back to it) and walking onto the next block there is The Bristol Bar on the corner. After this come back to The Louden. Cross over to the station and then cross at the cross roads to continue up Duke St. On the first corner is The Duke Bar. Across Duke St is The Crown Creighton. Further down Duke St The Alexandra, then a block down is The Snug. Then at the end of the next block is The Palais. A further four blocks down is Redmond’s of Dennistoun which unfortunately does not open until 4pm during the week. Whether visiting Redmond’s or not you have to walk past it to the next junction and turn down left to get to Bellgrove Station to return to Queen St.
If you have time you could walk past the the station entrance for 3 minutes and down to the main road, Turning right onto gallowgate at the next corner there is The Drovers quickly followed by The Wee Man’s Pub.
A place this size is bound to have its own guides to illustrate the vast quantity, quality and styles of pubs.
CAMRA in Glasgow
Glasgow guide illustrating top ten pubs in different styles of drinking (and dining) eg Style pubs or Live Music pubs.
Timeout listing of best pubs - controversial
A good proportion of the pubs have real ale but many do not. The west coast still has a bit of a lager flavour - occasionally only lager. Real ale is not limited to trendy style pubs, and not even in many of these.
Glasgow does not have the tourist grouping of pubs as found in Edinburgh - they are mainly aimed at Glasgow folk.
Bristol Bar
The Bristol Bar is a large corner bar with a Glasgow Rangers football theme running through it. Coming in corner door the servery is ahead on the wall and going along to the right. To left of door and running up left wall and around the back are 6 to 8-seater booths with their own screen. The tables have football jerseys associated with Rangers under clear plastic as the tabletop. The wall above the booths is covered in a mural of football supporters at a match. This style of football jersey table also runs from the right of door up to far wall passing a side door. The far wall has a full-length picture of Rangers football ground, Ibrox. Lots of Rangers’ memorabilia decorate the walls and behind the servery, including pictures of King Charles III and the late Queen. The décor is of course red, blue and white with the Rangers badge set in tiles in the middle of the floor. The servery counter has famous Rangers’ football programmes sealed underneath plastic and has blue stools.

While to left of door is red banquette seating along the wall into a back area beyond the servery.

Inside from the Duke St entrance round to the right is red banquette seating continuing along the right wall until the long servery starts. This is a dark wood counter with stool-chairs. From the door the left-hand side also has banquette seating going along the wall and opposite the first part of the servery. At the end of the servery is a small room with a pool table and more lounge style seating. Main floor is tiled with sides wooden.

The Crown Creighton
The Crown Creighton is the only pub to still have a bar and a lounge, though both are served from a central servery and are connected by a corridor beyond the servery. The left side of the entrance is the bar and lounge to the right.
The bar has brown banquette seating with dining style tables and chairs along the front and left walls. The servery is very traditional looking brown counter wooden counter with some stools. There is a lot of standing room between counter and the seats along the side wall.
The lounge has a smaller square servery. The lounge is carpeted and has banquette with dining tables seating around walls. Tastefully decorated with pictures and grey papered and painted walls.
It has some seating to left of door. The seating in the lounge works with walls to give some seclusion and there is a larger group of round tables and banquette seating in a recess beyond the servery

There is a large oval servery dominating the room. It is tall one made of brown wood with brass leaning. The original bar area fed from the right door and has some banquette seating in corner beside the door but that is the last of the seating till the end of the oval. This side is standing room only. At end of oval is a red Banquette seating recess with dining style tables. Going round the oval and back towards the door there is more banquette seating along the sides. Off here is a side doorway to a pool table in a room with pool to left and more lounge seating to the right. History

PLACES TO VISIT WITH PUBTRAILS
The towns and villages highlighted on this web site have a wide variety of pubs and beers in them. All of the places are great to visit, whether for a day or longer, and most have tourist attractions for all of the family.
There is a large variety of pubs throughout the different towns shown below. Some you may wish never to visit again but even discovering these can be interesting. There are pubs that you would not take your wife into. While some you could not take your girlfriend into. A few you would not take either into. However, most of the pubs are very pleasant.

The Snug
The Snug is a locals pub showing photos of customers, lots of charity thank you letters, books to borrow and a wide range of ages drinking in it. The servery, with dark wood counter, comes out from middle of the right-side wall. There is some seating around to the right from door under the window then the servery. Left of door are two round tables with black banquette seating under the window. Opposite the servery on left wall are a couple of dining height tables with seating and chairs. Beyond the servery and into the left is a small ‘snug’ room with a mixture of seating. It is a small bright room with wooden floor, with prints of Glasgow on the walls and some bar stools. Floor also has a couple of barrel tables for those standing.
Lager: Tennent’s
Cider: Ye Olde English Cider Guinness
The Palais
The Palais is a corner bar with the door on the corner. To the left is the shorter frontage on Duke St and longer side, at the right on Grafield St where there is outside seating on a nice day. This is only one of two pubs in the crawl that offer a selection of Premium beers, and the extra expense of these.
Round to the right from the door are three long tables seating 6-8 on metal stools opposite the start of the servery which has a small curve at this point. Directly in the door is a small seating area along the Duke St Window and to the back wall. Further along the back wall the servery starts. This is a tall dark wooden counter which has a curve in it for the first metre and then straightens out to go further along the wall stopping halfway into room. There is some dark green banquette seating at a tall table opposite the servery.
Beyond the servery the room opens out. Against the left wall is the kitchen hatch. The room itself has dining style tables for four. Some are in the middle of the room and others against the back wall with green banquette seating along this wall.

The Drovers
The Drovers is a corner pub with the narrow front on the main road and the longer side running down the side street. Both the side door (lounge) and the front door now take you into the same room. The door on main road narrow front enters into a wooden floored longish room with the servery taking up middle of wall on the right. Behind the counter is a large attractive wooden gantry. There is some seating up a step to the right of the door and then the counter begins. To the left of the door and along the left wall is banquette seating which is almost booth like as pillars cut off every two seats. The seats are served by modern wooden square tables and chairs. Along the counter are cold metal stools. The lounge door from down long side opens into the same room but is closer to the rear sitting room now equipped with a pool table.
