Kilwinnning is small town in North Ayrshire
Kilwinning is a small town in in North Ayrshire and lies close to the riverside towns of Salcoats, Ardrossan and Irvine. the town has about 16,000 people in it and dates back to the 8th Century when St Winning started a church.
Off of the pedestrian zone in the town centre is Kilwinning Abbey and nearby is Eglinton Country Park with Castle.
Easily reached by train from Glasgow central and is well served by the Ardrossan line and the Ayr line. The railway splits just after Kilwinning. the service takes about half an hour.
Arriving by train walk up off of the platform and turn left onto Townhead and four minutes down past The Alton Inn (leaving for return as close to station) find The Market Bar on the right. Across the raod an a few minutes walk is The Victoria Bar. Continue on from The Victoria and vere round to the left into the pedestrianised area. Continue along this for a minute or two and reach The Lemon Tree. Leaving here walk further along main Street to The Black Rose.
Time to turn round and head back and across from the Lemon tree is the Abbey Gates Bar & Grill. Leaving here walk back down to The Victoria and across the raod when you get to it is The Corner House. from here it is round to the left and back towards the statuion to the final destination, the Alton Inn.

The Market Bar has a lovely wooden servery ahead straight in door with wooden stools around counter.The room has a tiled floor with lots of standing area with dark wood patterned ceilng. Tan banquette seating is all around room with tables and chairs with wooden panels above seating then cream wall . A pool area is round to left .

The servery is round to the left and has a small room seperated from lounge area by a large pillar passable on both sides, The attractive counter is agains the left wall and opposite the counter are two small tables with a banquette seating for two below the window. A small performance area is round to right of door

The Abbey Gates Bar & Grill has a large shop front style exterior with a central door. There is seating round to right of foyer entrance with large windows which has tables and banquette seating up the right wall to where the L-shaped servery starts. Round to left of door is a raised area with large windows. The raised area stretches up the left side narrowing opposite the servery. The longer side of the servery stretches down the right wall. Opposite the counter is some table seating with soft chairs and a two sofa area with three tall tables against the wall . Beyond the sofas is a doorway to pool area. Small fans hang above the counter at regular intervals in case Kilwinning gets very hot.

The Corner House is a restaurantand bar. The bar can be entered via the restaurant or by its own door to the right. the pub entrance takes you to a room with L shaped bar curving round on right wall . Immediately in the room, to the right, is banquette seating and two tables by the window while to the left of door is banquette seating going round and along the left wall. Glass panels seperate the here from the restaurant The middle of the floor has three tall tables and stools. Comfy stools are placed around the dark wood counter counter. The very attractive room has wooden floor with tiles around counter and brass footrest. the room has low ceiling and low lighting. Decor is green and brown fawn fabrics. At the back of the room another room has false outside vibe with plants, tiled floor and see through ceiling to let natural light in. It has blue and red banquette with lots of small round tables and chairs. Prices are not anymore expensive than surrounding pubs.

The Alton Inn entrance foyer has the wooden topped servery immediately in front of you with brass footrest. The room at the servery has a tiled floor and stools around counter. Through out the decor is low ceiling with black beams and white between them and above seating there is cream wall with black beams at angles on the wall. Round the left of door is a carpeted opened up room with fire in middle of the wall which has green banquette seating and tables and chairs. Further up to left and round from servery is another opened up room continuing the green banquette seating with dark wood furniture. Round to rightof entrance and opposite the servery is banquette seating and tables then a large red curtained stage performance area.
